Details

The thinning of the beard or moustache can have a traumatic origin (following trauma or burns) or a physiological one. Some young men, in fact, have thinned central areas of the cheeks or interruptions in the continuity towards the sideburns. The distribution of the beard can be modified (Barba pro Barba technique) to thicken the areas of interest by taking grafts from hidden areas (base of the neck). The beard can also be used to thicken the mustache. The donor area, from which the individual follicular units are extracted with the FUE technique, is not altered in the least.

In most cases, the area to be treated is small in size and therefore it is not necessary to transfer a very high number of follicular units, which is the case for hair transplantation using the strip technique.

"The beard and moustache transplantation technique is ideal for the treatment of cicatricial alopecia, such as that caused by burns, trauma or malformations."
